The Most Important Place You Can Be
“The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” “The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch” (CCC 1324).
“The inexhaustible richness of this sacrament is expressed in the different names we give it. Each name evokes certain aspects of it” (CCC, 1328): Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper, the Breaking of Bread, the Eucharistic Assembly, the Holy Sacrifice, the Holy & Divine Liturgy, Holy Communion, and Holy Mass.
Jesus said: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; . . . he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and . . . abides in me, and I in him” (Jn. 6:51, 54, 56)
“Having passed from this world to the Father, Christ gives us in the Eucharist the pledge of glory with him. Participation in the Holy Sacrifice identifies us with his Heart, sustains our strength along the pilgrimage of this life, makes us long for eternal life, and unites us even now to the Church in heaven, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and all the saints” (CCC, 1419).
“Be the Presence of God to a World that longs for him.”
